It’s probably not a good thing for someone writing “meme comics” to admit, but I hadn’t heard of this Yukkuri thing until a week or two ago. Then, suddenly, they were everywhere – where by “everywhere”, I mean “Shaft anime”.

Giant floating heads only remind me of one thing, though. Please forgive my obscurity – even I have to admit that I’ve never managed to sit through more than twenty minutes of that movie.

The last panel more or less sums up my reaction to Yukkuri. It’s adding to a growing tendency for me to assume that anything I don’t get is probably a touhou thing, and that fandom is just way too dense for me to get at this point. I mean, it’s not even so much a fandom around the core touhou product, rather it’s a fandom surrounding the fandom around the core touhou product, which just makes it all the more confusing and labyrinthine. Sometimes, I’m not even sure that those proclaiming themselves as touhou fans really get it, and that it’s all really part of some gigantic injoke they are playing.

But that would just be stupid.
