Unfunny Internet Meme Comics #6-20

Because it’s an overly warm and, therefore, lazy bank holiday Monday, I can’t really be bothered to actually draw todays comic.

Anyway, obvious joke – that being that hugging Etopen actually improves Nodokas Mah Jong thanks to the fact that it reduces the no doubt crippling back pain induced by carrying those things around. Infact, given the way Saki tends to be, I’m not even sure that the show itself hasn’t already made that joke and I’ve completely forgot about it, else it’s perhaps been made at some point in the manga. Saki seems to be the kind of show which reveals in making fun of itself.

It’s Bandai Visual anime release week in Japan this week, which means all the new Sunrise disks are hitting, which means that they’ll probably be sorely missing the stellar sales that Macross Frontier and particularly Code Geass were racking up, now that both releases are out in their entirety.

Still, more important from my point of view is that the second volume of Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo hits DVD and Blu-Ray tomorrow.

This is the one with the picture drama with Itsuki cos-playing as Hatsune Miku. Despite all the cross promotion they seem to be doing (the TV spots for this volume are actually being voice overed by Miku), I’m assuming it’s only actually going to be this one panel in the omake. The website claims that Nina as produced seven different changes of setting, which I presume means we’ll be seeing a bunch of Sunrise character cos-plays or something. There’s a moderate chance that I’ll get the disk this week, and I’ll report back if I do.

I’m also grabbing the first volume of Kurokami on BR – somewhat against my better judgement given I’ve not seen it, and opinions seem incredibly mixed. It felt kind of odd just ordering one disk from Japan though, and it’s the only other new-ish show starting it’s release that I figured I wouldn’t mind watching. The BR’s got the English dub on as well.

Whilst I’m on the subject of Bandais Japanese BR releases, it looks like they are going to be releasing My-ZHiME Zwei and S.ifr in a few months time, each collecting all the episodes of each series onto one disk for little more than one volume of their (R2) single DVD release. Of course, I already have the singles releases of both – in the case of Zwei, I also have the movie re-edit and the R1 release as well. This isn’t to mention the fact that Zwei kind of isn’t particularly great either, but I’m still tempted to pick the shows up yet again anyway – they’ll be in HD after all!

Well, assuming they aren’t just upscales ^^;
