AnimeExpo is still rumbling on, providing the world with occasional news of massively varying degrees of interest. That Bandai are going to be releasing the Eureka Seven movie (under a fruity new subtitle rather than “Pocket full of Rainbows” as it’s Japanese moniker translates) isn’t actually all that interesting – the fact that Eureka Seven TV was such a high-profile title for them made it an inevitability. On the other hand, that US eroge publisher Jast is apparently going to release something that is actually interesting in the form of Demonsbane and that other Nitroplus game with that Ignis character everyone was buying figures of a few years back, is actually vaguely interesting news.

Then in the middle, there’s the news that Funimation is going to take a leaf out of ADVs book by milking Evangelion for all it’s worth, by releasing both the 1.01 and 1.11 edits as separate releases – with the later of course coming what’s likely to be some six months later. I know which version I’ll be buying – 1.11 on Blu-ray, but that’s mostly because I have 1.01 on DVD from HK already. I do wonder how many people will end up buying both, though – the fact that ADV re-released Evangelion on DVD so many times makes me think that there must be a market for it.
