Sabers Drill Hall

Some doujin game group I can’t quite find the name of have released a trial version (edit – no longer available, I’m afraid) of their upcoming 3D fighting game Soulsaber. Thats not really interesting in itself, but for their trial version they’ve decided to base it entirely around Saber from Fate/Stay Night. Huzzah!

This isn’t the first time doujin groups have pulled characters from Fate into fighting games, though none have reached the same quality as Tsukihime-based Melty Blood. The best is probably Lights Fatal/Fake (trial version on the website). It plays pretty well, but since I generally suck at any fighting game with so much as a polygon in site (whether it makes much of a difference to the game or not) I’ve not really played it much. Group Rapid Fire released 2D fighter Fate/Sword Dance (again, trial on the website), but the last version I played of it had pretty horrific loading times, and the game itself was merely OK – it was passable, but not really great. There was also the ring based fighter Fight/Magical Tag Match, which as the name suggests kind of played like tag team wrestling. Its by a group called K3 from what I remember, but suddenly I can’t find their website, and didn’t really play it much.
This isn’t the kind of thing I’m likely to post about on a frequent basis, but with a combination of Dragon Quest and online Mario Kart DS absorbing time, the fact that 90% of this weekends traffic being people gawking at Fate/Stay Night figures and a general lack of updates, I figured this was interesting enough to post.

Unfortunately I think they took the trial down a while back – I just forgot to edit the post (because I’m, like, lazy…).
Sorry!
