Not quite ten tonnes of gold, is it?
Speaking of Haruhi and gouging, some new news regarding the DVD release of the show popped up on a few Japanese websites yesterday. It was along the lines of…

Okay, the first thing to point out here is, despite what some may have suggested, most of the details here are far from confirmed. The first couple of disks are correct – that data has been confirmed by a number of sources now, and are up for order on a few different stores now. The rest of the information I’ve yet to find out the original source of – I’ve heard it’s from 2ch originally, which I guess means you need to take it with a pinch of salt. Others have pointed out that, which one exception and an omission, these numbers pretty much follow the 1/7 progression, which could just mean that someone has just extrapolated these details from the second volume number.
Assuming these volume numbers are true, what does it tell us? Not a huge amount. There’s been a lot of speculation regarding, surprise surprise, exactly how many of these volumes are going to be Endless Eight episodes. The volume numbers place all the episode between Lone Island Syndrome and Live-a-Live, which could well mean that everything after the first volume is E8, with the final volumes single episode being the one which closes the arc.
Personally, I don’t really think that this is too likely. The problem with having a volume number as 5.999999 as being a disk with nothing but a single Endless Eight episode is that it kind of closes the on animating any of the other material which sits within that period. That means animating any of the rest of Sighs isn’t going to happen. I find this hard to believe.
Then again, the whole Endless Eight saga isn’t something that any would have ever considered remotely likely, nor believed even if someone told me ahead of time, which renders it difficult to do anything other than speculate wildly. I’ve not read any of the material after the first book, so I’ve got no idea how much unanimated material fits between Endless Eight and Live-a-Live, though I’d like to think that at least the final episode would be something different. The early predictions for the episode break-down of this series had, the only other material fitting between these episodes, Sighs as a four episode arc, though that would make Endless Eight hit nine episodes.
Ah, who knows? I guess things will become a touch more obvious next Thursday once we find out if things are going to continue on into a ninth instalment.
It would seem that they are making a movie version of Fate/Stay Night. Cool beans, I say. Although I note that it’s being published by Geneon (at least that’s who owns the site) rather than Aniplex, the wrapping-up of the Garden of Sinners movie series makes me think (well, more hope) that this is what ufotable is going to be doing next – the Garden of Sinners movies have been excellent. It’d be interesting to see what they’d do with Fate.
I’m also hoping that this movie will be Unlimited Blade Works. The background to that website is certainly very UBW-sy, at least. I guess I wouldn’t complain if it’s Heavens Feel, though. I just don’t want it to be Fate this time around – unless we are given the promise of further movies to follow, of course. That’d be awesome.
That said, surely Tsukihime needs the remake treatment way, way more than Fate/Stay Night does…
