Today is one of those days where the comic really isn’t worth the amount of time I ended up devoting to throwing the thing together. Indeed, halfway through the process, I started debating whether or not I actually had a point to this, let alone an actual joke…
I think my point was supposed to be that, despite her nice-girl demeanour, Saki is actually incredibly manipulative. I mean, she waited until Koromo hesitated choosing which tile to discard before she went into her “Isn’t Mahjong fun?” spiel – I bet she fully knew that she was mind-screwing poor little Koromo into playing right into her hand. Left to her own devices, Koromo would probably have discarded a different tile and made her way to victory.
Hmmm, nothing else I feel like commenting on today. It’s getting late ^^;

It did seem a bit strange and insensitive for Saki to trample everyone into the ground with her counted yakuman, and then to say, “Wow, that sure was fun, wasn’t it?” Kind of poor sportsmanship.

Yeah, Saki is pretty much an a$$hole, remember when Koromo ask her is she thinks she’ll win then Saki told her “Yeah I’ll win and my family will be together,again.” Yeah telling an orphan that your fighting for your family to throw her off her game. Pretty Evil.

Were you planning on reading & reviewing any other Japanese translated novels? I recently noticed Viz’s Haikasoru line of Japanese sci-fi novels. So far ‘All You Need is Kill’ and ‘The Lord of The Sands of Time’ have been released with two more (notably Otsuichi’s ZOO) coming next month.
Also somehow missed the release of the GOTH novel by Otsuichi so I just ordered it along with AnotherHolic and Faust 2. And it seems Brave Story (824 page / hardback) was released two years back.

Navi, I think we have to acquit her of the charge of “taunting an orphan”. Saki didn’t know Koromo’s story.

Yeah, as and when I have time to finish reading stuff. I finished reading AnotherHolic a day or two ago, and I’ll be writing that one up soon. I have actually read GOTH, but I repeatedly forgot to write about it and it’s been so long since I’ve read it now it’d be hard to go back to. Brave Story I’ve had since release, but it’s an incredibly intimidating volume, so I’ve not read it yet.
I’ve not picked up any of the Haikasoru line yet for some reason – I’ll definitely be getting ZOO next month at least, though.
