Sora Kake Girl Blu-Ray #8
There’s a problem with this volume of Sora Kake Girl. Well, “problem” is perhaps a strong word – it’s more of a minor issue, an inconvenience, a problemette, if you will. You see, the eighth volume of Sora Kake Girl opens with Episode 21. Why is this an issue, you ask? Well, it means that not just this volume, but perhaps the entire series, peaks just five minutes into the disk.

Not that I’m saying that the orgasmic Tsutsuji’s skimming of The Sun to retrieve the Crown of Proxima is necessarily the best scene of the entire series, but it’s certainly the most memorable one. I admit, there’s an awful lot of character bias going into this assessment, but it’s a character bias that I think most of the audience probably share’s with me.
Oh, well, I suppose there’s still Nami’s glorious descent into full-blown insanity in the final few episodes to look forward to in the next volume.

I do hope that Jupitern doesn’t feel pain. I’d think getting an eye sown back on would kind of hurt…
The picture drama for the eighth volume is Sakura revealing the secrets of the Shishidou family. There’s nothing particularly exciting about it, to be honest. They don’t even quite hit the levels of gratuitous nudity of the previous instalments – the closest you get is a rather top-heavy Imaginary Older Sakura, but even that’s not at the levels of the previous disks.
This looks to be the last picture drama of the shows release, by the way. The official Sora Kake website hasn’t updated with the final volume details yet, but Bandai Visuals online catalogue has, and in place of the picture drama they list a “Special Ending” version of the final episode in addition to the regular version. The disks length is clocked at 96 minutes (72 minutes + 24 minute variant episode) so it’s not going to be any longer than what was broadcast.
Which makes me wonder exactly what this special ending version is going to be – I had been assuming that the we were going to get something along the lines of the DVD version of My-HiMEs final episode, where we got some additional epilogue material running under the ending credits. They extended out the ED for the HiME episode to accommodate the extra material, due to them having run footage under the ending credits even in the broadcast version. I’m pretty sure the broadcast version of the Sora Kake finale had footage running under the ED as well, so if they aren’t adding any length to the episode, I wonder exactly what they’re doing.
Oh, well – with the release due on the 22nd of December, I guess we’ll be finding out shortly into the New Year.

ooo… This show is about space station mecha! With big cannons.

Well, technically, it’s pretty much a show about Sunrise making fun of everything that’s Sunrise – which means that the space station mecha with the big cannon if kind of pretty much exactly an (even more) insane version of Lelouch…

I want a sentient Orbital Ion Cannon like Leopard. Kane would love it.

Who wouldn’t love an Orbital Ion Cannon?
The sentient I could possibly pass on. Definitely if it’s like Leopard ^^;
