Two-ton ‘o fun

This is, apparently, my 200th post here. Because of this, I’m going to put off posting interesting things like those new Negima figures which turned up today to do some general rantage! Huzzah!

So, the general topic of discussion in the blog’o’sphere is the oversaturation of anime blogs. I have to admit, I do find it kind of amusing that what started as a rant about having read too many posts about the same episode of Haruhi has erupted in a whole bunch of posts about that subject instead, each with a different take on the subject.

Which is entirely the point, I guess – everyone has a different take on things. The more people blogging, the more likely it is to find someone who has tastes overlapping with your own. Bulk of opinion is never a particularly a bad thing, and if you are fed up with something then you can always just tune out those posts mentally – theres no reason why you actually have to read all those posts about Haruhi, just scan a few from the blogs you know you are interested in. As someone who spends a fair bit of cash buying shows blind on DVD, I tend to rely on the general opinion of shows generated on the blogs and anime forums waited against how my tastes have overlapped with those posters in the past.

Basically, I have no problem with the number of blogs floating around. Most of them will probably be dead in a few months, anyway. Its all very easy to start enthusiastically, but keeping that going is pretty tricky.

The discussions on the number of blogs has ended up spreading out onto the subject of how to increase traffic and the need for more niche blogs. Not really caring about traffic – I’d rather have the few interested readers I have than a few thousand people who, well, aren’t – I’ve messed around with posting about doujin games (which I will get back to closer to next Comiket – there isn’t really anything interesting going at moment) and only really blog about older shows, and can say that, really, it probably generates far less traffic than yet another post about something airing at the moment (be it Japan or the US). Really, people just aren’t all that interested. Figures are another story althogher – theres plenty of interest in that, but thats not really a niche in the blogging arena these days, as there are plenty of places covering figure releases these days.

Truthfully, if the person writing the blog is getting something out of it – be it simply amusement value, the use of having somewhere to vent or the inflated ego which comes from generating interest – than I think thats fine.

I’ve completely went off on something I wasn’t really intending to talk about, and really, its yet another post on a subject thats already been pounded into the ground – how droll can I get? ^^; I guess I should actually say something about BW, but the only thing which has really stood out in the last 200 posts is the complete and utter lack of consistancy in what and how I post. I think its fun, it keeps the reader guessing and makes things more exciting!

Well, no, its really just that I’m actually that inconsistant. I’m sure I’ll actually settle down on something of a consistant style of posting eventually. Maybe. In any case, I’m going to stop boring people and get typing up that Negima figure post.
