Xenosaga Episode III – The End, part 1
Investigating the Cathedral, we discover an Ormus laboratory hidden beneath. Also below waiting for us is Margulis. Aside from the curious revelation that Jin and Pelegri were once lovers, Margulis says he is here to settle things once and for all. Having been betrayed by everything he has believed in, all he has left is his rivalry with Jin. For some odd reason they do for an ES battle, but whatever.
Defeating Margulis, he decides that he cannot face being slain by Jins sword, and chooses to impale himself. Once again, the Anima vessel is extracted from the ES by some strange force.

Descending further down, we come across an area which reacts to Shions pendant. We eventually reach a dead end, when Shion proceeds to get an U-DO attack. This time, however, she can see its form clearly, and its Abel. U-DO asks Shion what she really wants, to which Shion repeatedly states that she doesn’t know. Eventually, she decides that she wants to be with Kevin.
When she reawakens, she is faced with Nephilim. She tells Shion that only she can open the path forward, and that she needs to trust in her friends and the like. Shion, however, states that she is no longer doing this for the universe or her friends – she is doing it for herself, to be reunited by Kevin. She then approaches Nephilim and has another vision.

She is back at Rennes le Chateau, but this time it is on Lost Jerusalem (i.e. Earth). Making her way to the tomb, she spots choas standing mysteriously next to the crucifix. Chaos asks if she has come to meet her, before pointing at the coffin in front of him before promptly disappearing. Opening the coffin, she reveals a woman who looks rather like KOS-MOS and T-elos. She proceeds to get a number of flashes of her life – standing with chaos in front of Jesus, chaos leaving her, and finally her standing in the middle of a field. Shion embraces her, and re-awakens. Just as she is about to try and explain what is happening, T-elos shows up and states who she saw was Maria.

By Maria, T-elos is referring to Mary Magdalene (If Rennes le Chateau isn’t a give away, the fact that T-elos handgun is call Magdalene 16 is). As for chaos, well, that’s a difficult one to figure out. I’ve always figured he was probably Jesus, but here he is seen standing in front of him. I guess the Jesus we see is just a stand-in, a front man for chaos to divert too much attention from himself. His implied relationship with Maria implies this to be the case anyway.

T-elos further explains things. KOS-MOS and T-elos created as vessels to hold the spirit of Mary Magdalene, and T-elos has come to claim her soul from KOS-MOS. The two battle, with everyone taking potshots at T-elos this time around. Mid way through the battle, KOS-MOS awakens as Maria – her eyes turn blue, and there is a very noticeable difference in the way she speaks. We proceed to kick T-elos’s arse, and T-elos is absorbed into KOS-MOS.

Normally, I wouldn’t read spoilers on a game’s ending, but I’m so excited I just had to read this. I’m desperate to find out what happens next!

Oh man the fight scene here was sweet, however, i was expecting more “wow” factor since the previous fight w/ T-elos kicked so much arse.
