I know that Wing is supposed to be a dirty word when talking about Gundam 00, but anyone who claims not to have immediately thought of Relena and her, errr, “animal troubling” as soon as Wang Liu Mei turned up in that safari costume is either lying or hasn’t seen Wing.

Either way, they lose. For all the flak it tends to get, Wing is actually a pretty entertaining show. The animation is pretty good, too. It’s be nice to see an HD release at some point – given that it’s probably on film somewhere we’d probably actually see an advantage from it.

Speaking of HD releases, it looks like that Japanese Blu-ray release of Utawarerumono (almost typed Underwater Ray Romano there, just to save myself having to look up exactly how to write that) is going to have some of the ADV assets on there – namely, the dub and the subtitles. Given I’ve not got Utawarerumono in any format already (nor have I seen it), this set has suddenly become very tempting. Admittedly, at around 50,000 in yennage it’s not exactly a cheap release, but it is actually native HD.

In other good news, apparently MVM here in the UK have a full sublicense for Black Lagoon – that is, both the first series and Second Barrage. Should no release of the later Second Barrage disks come through in the US, I should at least be able to see to the end of the series. Huzzah!

(Oh, and it anyone is wondering, I had some Carrot Cake yesterday. It was both delicious and moist).
