<\/center>\nFrom episode 58 of Puchimas, the iDOLM@STER gag anime spin-off which, like the Mini-Goddesses, exists in the handy petite size. Not that this was the only example in the show – I actually had two different examples brought to my attention by Calaggie and Peter over on the Twitter ages back, but since I completely forgot to favourite the tweets like a sensible person at the time, I’ve had to go back on trawl the BDs for them. I figured I’d cap the post with this particular example because PiyoPiyo is my favourite underused Puchidol, and also it’s upside-down, which is kind of interesting!<\/p>\n
Well, maybe not so much the latter point there.

<\/center>\nPuchimas is kind of a weird affair. I mean, I call it a gag anime, but it’s actually woefully under-served in terms of actual jokes in it’s anime incarnation. The format of it’s TV presentation didn’t really help it much – the short episodes resulted in something which was mostly recap and ending credits, with very little actual content in the middle. Sometimes that actual content included a joke, sometimes it didn’t, but it mostly somehow proved to be entertaining anyway. Certainly, something vaguely gif-able for internet forum posting reasons seemed to happen once an episode on most occasions, if naught else.<\/p>\n
The BD version of the show does actually improve things somewhat – the TV broadcast versions are still there, but there’s also a “Directors Cut” on the disks. This basically trims them recap content and groups the episodes into batches of three – this actually means the episodes vary in length quite a bit due to the varying length of the recap segments in each episode, but it also means that you aren’t getting a minutes worth of content recapping a two minutes worth of material every episode.<\/p>\n
This still doesn’t exactly make Puchimas the greatest thing ever or anything, but hey, it’s cute and I enjoyed it, so *shrug*.<\/p>\n
Also, ED1 > ED2 > ED3. Just saying. There were a few different versions of the BD releases, actually from differing publishers. I grabbed the Collectors Edition versions, being the music-listening sort, since they were bundled with the CDs for the ED songs.
