The Token End of Year Post 2015

For the sixth year running I must, once again, confess that I’ve yet to watch a single episode of Gundam Unicorn. This is particularly bad at this point, because I’ve actually some how managed to get around to seeing the first couple of episodes of Gundam the Origin this year, not to mention being fully up-to-date on Iron Blooded Orphans.

Seriously, I’ll totally crack open those BDs this year.

Anyway, here’s too many words to be actually worth reading about some cartoons from this year. Spoilers be lurking thar below!

And I thought Yamato was Anime Jesus, KanColle Episode 11

Though I guess that’s only true if they also have the name Kira, even if being able to walk on water is a prerequisite for being a shipgirl. Well, unless you are Kisaragi.

Blub Blub.

The Growth Spurts of a Teenage Shipgirl in KanColle Episode 9

Think you are getting a Yuudachi episode? Think again, poi – it’s another boring, boring Fubuki episode. It’s kind of uneventful as well, aside from one big event dropped right at the end – It’s just a boring ShipGirl moping around about boring things.

But, hey, at least I can be quick this week, because there’s really not a whole lot to be writing about.

You Can Check-Out Any Time You Like, But You Can Never Leave in KanColle Episode 8

This time on KanColle, good golly, Fubuki is really rather boring.

I mean, it’s not normally that much of a problem in the show, because a certain degree of grounding is necessary so that things don’t feel too weird then they throw the girls into a bloodbath of a skirmish. The problem this time is that the episode is straddling something of a tonal middle ground – for all the jokes about Yamato not being a hotel, it’s not an outright comedy episode like the Kongou-class or the Akatsuki-class episodes, but it’s definitely not an action episode like last weeks. It’s really just a kinda toothless episode about the melancholy of being an undeployed shipgirl.

Which isn’t to say it’s an awful episode of anime – despite all, any episode of KanColle is something at least I tend to enjoy more than an awful lot of other shows – but it’s definitely been the weakest episode so far for me, and that’s definitely because Fubuki is just that darn boring.
